HOLIDAYS!

Now my dear friends, school finally found a break and we’re having holidays for two weeks! The first week is almost over, but I’m totally fine with that. During the day I’m working for my mom. Yes, it is really exhausting.. but never mind.  The  medical secretaries are really nice and if I’m in another room but the reception, I’m allowed to listen to music. ♪♫ pretty good!
Cause I was working like 8 hours yesterday, I went to bed just afterwards to wake up at 7am,  have breakfast with my parents and now do some accountancy stuff. You might ask yourself how my music is going. Well it’s going its way! Actually I’m not playing the guitar that much the last time, but prefer the piano. Mostly some chords and then sing the melody over it.. So! I really have some work to be done here.  Just some more quick things. Next week I’m going to Berlin with Hauke (the guitarist on one of the pics) !! We didn’t really planned it, but last week sometime at school he was like: “Come on Julia, let’s go to Berlin in the holidays!” and that’s it. we’re going! Mon – Thurs. We arranged the rides and a quite nice hostle. SOOO looking forward to it =)  I’ll take some pics and post them here.  BERLIN I’m coming!!

Some days after Berlin we’re having field excursions. Hauke is going to Prague, I’m going to Italy. Visit some islands, vulcanos, great! But I still need a new bikini for that.. because somewhere on one of the mountains there’s a “sulphur bath”.  And once in.. you don’t get rid of the smell!

but now it’s time to get back to work!

Update July 14th

Hello there!
It’s been a while since I updated my blog.. sorry for that
School’s almost finished now before summer and just 2 weeks left til the holidays!!
I spent my last vacation with my mom in Korea, visiting my family.. it was really really nice! It was the first time that I could really ‘talk’ to my family.. Sure there’re always some words I can speak in Korean.. but that’s mostly about food. haha..
And this time my cousins could speak English as well.. which was really great. We could talk about everything and laugh more than ever.. I miss them. probably more than before, because this time was so special to me.. And I’m jealous of my sister, who’s going there soon for 2 months. All the people there are so lovely.. <3
And I realized again, that Korean people always offer you more to eat. Even though you already had A LOT .. and you want to be kind and eat and eat and eat.. haha. but I enjoy them. so much love around there!
Beside that, it’s been the 2nd time for me just to travel with my mom. Without dad and Anne. We actually didn’t do that much together. Sure we travelled ’round, but I spent most of the time with my cousins and friends, and she was with her sisters/brother/friends. So … that independence was great.

I know I haven’t posted any new videos for some months.. Sorry for that. but i just didn’t have the time/calm..

During my stay in Korea I wrote some new texts. They’re totally different to the songs I’ve written before.. they’re more philosophical.
And one of them is already complete with melodie/chords etc.. And this time it’s with the piano. I still have to figure out how to put the mic on the piano.. and so on. But hopefully soon.

Now to the band, we had some performances so far, and we still have a lot of meetings til Rome. Well.. just 2 weeks left. And til then we have a lot to do.. But beside that we’re going to two concerts.. I’m looking forward to that. I’m not quite sure if I told you who’s in the band.. ? well, we’re 6 singer (4 female and 2 male) and 5 musicians (e-bass, piano, drums, sax, synthesizer/vibraphone)

beside our band work, we had our choir concerts at school! we sang songs by Michael Jackson, Kelly Clarkson.. and so on.. so pretty good songs. I think. And I sang ‘my everything’ with our school band. it went pretty well I think. Although I was almost collapsing on stage haha …

as you might see.. although school has almost finished and no more exams left, I have a lot to do.. Today I’m probably gonna meet a friend and later there’s a kind of … night of culture at my school.
So far for now.. I hope I’m gonna post more often some stuff on here..

Prague – Update May 1st 2010

Hey !

It’s been some time since I came home from Prague. And I can tell you, Prague is soo wonderful with it’s beautiful art nouveau buildings everywhere.. my mom says, it’s the most beautiful town to her. But I think every town has got it’s own charm, and it seems to me like a perfect mixture of Paris and Istanbul..  We’ve been pretty much sight seeing.. little exhausting, but really nice!
We’ve been in an exhibition of “Mucha”.. his paintings are very special. Well, actually he didn’t paint. He made posters for a french actress. Lovely storie how he became famous over night, his life in Prague… I’ve already seen an exhibition with his works in Montpellier. I really like them. You should look for them sometime !
I think you guys already heard about Franz Kafka, right? In Prague was a new exhibition.. it’s been special and different to other’s I’ve been visiting before. The room with his letters and pictures of him were made so.. real. The sounds, the decoration, a corridor with drawers to pull out and read his letters. All this made you feel like him.. well propably not really like him, but you started to understand him. Although his books are hard to read (I think). But the way of thinking, he must have had, is fascinating to me.
In the end, I bought a Franz Kafka notebook, where I wrote down all my songs and the one’s I’m working on.
It’s been really nice to spent those days just with my mom. My sister had to learn for her final exams and my dad worked..

I have some interesting things to tell you !
First of all, we had our first two performances with the band!! ( I think I haven’t told you before..our name’s WAKE UP ) We haven’t been playing our own songs, but some songs we’re going to perform in summer on August 1st in Rome, Italy!! But now I passed all the exams and thankfully we’re having holidays now.  Actually I should get my stuff together and start packing my bag for tomorrow. I’m going to visit Prag with my mum for about 5 days! I really need that now..
As soon as I’m back I’ll upload some pics to show you where I’ve been etc..

I’m sorry I haven’t uploaded a new video yet. I’ve been ill the last few weeks and I still got a cold, so my voice .. wasn’t really in the mood to sing with me. After our holidays (in 1,5 weeks) I’ll go to our guitar shop to get me a new one. Today my guitar teacher gave me one of his’ . Hopefully Ican give it back to him soon! And I hope I’ll find the time to record a piano-version-song.
I thought of recording “Droplets” again.. Because that song has been one of the first songs I’ve uploaded. And maybe there’s been some musical progress I’ve been through. So it could be a really different version.  What do you think about that?

Update, March 7th

bon soir mes amis,

it’s been some exhausting weeks and I hadn’t really time to post some new blogs. Right now I should learn maths for the exam tomorrow, but okay.. a while to tell you what I’ve been up to the last time.
To be honest my life consisted mainly of school. I wrote some exams and had to prepare / hold a 45 min presentation.. and tomorrow maths. But after that it’ll be little more relaxing and more time for friends/songwriting..
Right now my guitar‘s kinda broken so it’s just in it’s box (the temperature during winter was too dry and now the body is broken.. which means, is has  a bulge which goes inside the guitar. normally it should be to the outside.. okay, this is hard for me to explain in english I hope you understand anyway what I’m talking about )
So I’ve been playing a lot the piano the last time. Not my classic pieces I should learn for the lessons.. but some other songs where I looked for the chords first.
I have another version of “All of my Heart” for piano as well. Maybe I’m going to upload it sometime. Not sure bout that yet.. it’s with different chords/melodie. But I thought the one I uploaded now was more optimistic.
About my baaaand: it’s going pretty well so far! We’ve been playing  ‘My Everything’ and ‘All of my Heart’. We made some test takes, but soon we’ll record them rightiously.. But first we’re practising for our performance in the big church here. it’s on march 27th I think. It’s a church service where we’re going to play/sing some songs during this ‘world-youth-day-church-service’. I hope you know what I mean..
There’ll be some more big performances all in relation to our performance we’re going to have in Rome this summer.
Just so you know, I’m not the front singer. I decided to stay background..cause in Rome’ll be about 11.000 people – and that’s little too.. too..too much for me. So we’re 4 background singer and 1 front. It’ll be great.
Next friday!! Guess who’s performing in our “jazz haus” (=jazz house) ???
Marit Larsen!!! gooosh… I’m really really looking forward to see her live performing. My sister and my mum gave me 2 cards for her concert as a birthday present. So I’m going there with Chris, my best friend
the other band members will be there too, so that’ll be great to experience that concert with them..
Theeen saturday, Ari and I’ll go to a friend of us at 4pm to start our dvd-night. Yeah I know. at 4pm ! Propably we’re going to sleep early ..who knows. but nooo.. we’ll try to stay awake.
Then on sunday, I’ll have another band meeting at 12pm. It’ll be a tough weekend, but I’m looking forward to it

Well nooow.. I have to keep on learing maths for tomorrow.
